Capture a demo
Record a flow in your product with the Peutly Recorder extension.
Every Peutly demo starts as a recording. You click through your product in your browser, and each click becomes a step you can edit later.
Before you start, install the extension and sign in to Peutly in the same browser.
Open your product
Go to the page where the flow starts. Log in and get the page into the state you want viewers to see first.
Choose a recording size
Click the Peutly icon in the toolbar. Under Recording Size, pick a preset:

Or choose Custom, type a width and height, and click Resize. The window is resized before recording starts, so every step has the same frame.
Start recording
Click Start Recording. A three-second countdown runs on the page. Click Cancel recording during the countdown to stop it.
Click through the flow
Use your product as you normally would. Every click is captured as a step. The popup shows the number of Events Captured so far.
- Click the pause button, in the popup or on the page, to stop capturing while you set something up that viewers shouldn't see. Click it again to resume.
- The trash button throws the recording away.
Stop and upload
Click Stop, in the popup or in the recording indicator on the page. A preview opens with your recording.
The recording uploads by itself after a 20-second countdown. You can also click Upload Recording right away, or cancel the countdown to look at it first. When the status shows Saved, click Edit to open the demo in the editor.
Recording needs an active trial or paid plan. If your workspace has neither, the extension shows a message with an Open billing button.
Recording across tabs
A recording follows one tab. If you switch to another tab while recording, the extension shows Recording in another tab. Click Record here (on the page) or Record this tab (in the popup) to continue in the tab you're on.
Closed the popup before uploading?
Your capture is kept. Open the extension again and click View Recording under You have an unsaved recording to get back to the preview.
Tips for a good recording
- Plan the flow first. Five to fifteen clicks is usually enough for one demo. You can remove extra steps in the editor, but you can't add clicks you didn't record.
- Use demo data. Peutly captures what's on the page, including text in form fields. Log in with a demo account so no real customer data ends up in the recording. See What gets captured.
- Wait for pages to load before you click, so each step shows the finished page.
- Close popups and banners you don't want in the demo, like cookie notices and chat widgets.
